what is the glory of God?
This semester I am taking a class called Jonathan Edwards: God’s Zeal for His Glory. One of the assignments I have to complete by the first day of class is to write a two paragraph definition of The Glory of God. Easier said than done. Here is what I have so far.
The glory of God is the exact emanation of his infinite being and the complete expression of his holiness. God’s glory is infinite and can never be viewed within the study of select attributes, inasmuch the glory of God is the expression of God’s entire being. Because God’s being, by nature, is expressed not only within his own person, but necessarily expressed in the external medium of creation (both seen and unseen), and because all of existence is his creation, existence is itself, in its whole, an emanation of God’s glory.
By definition, God’s glory is sustained by the very being of God, who holds together all that is. Therefore, God’s glory can never be taken from or added to. To glorify God then, is to draw attention to the glory of God that exists, beautifying it in its proper dimension and grandeur.

amen, bro
looking forward to the semester
