We moved to the city of Minneapolis on Wednesday.  We live in the heart of the city, in the Elliot Park neighborhood, which is very diverse.  We were on our way out the door to our new church for the first time when we were alerted to the fact that the passenger side window to our car had been shattered, and our car had been scavenged for valuables.

We are out a window, but thankfully, it looks like nothing was stolen.  Nonetheless it was God’s gracious reminder to me.

“Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal.  For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

- Jesus (Matthew 6:19-20)

Lord, help me to treasure what you treasure, and to hold the things of this world with an open hand.

    Jeff,

I’m sorry to hear about the break-in! I will be praying for you guys. How is everything else going in Minneapolis?

Jeff, that is a good word for all of us and your prayer is also a reminder of our need to focus on things above. Blessings to you , Chelsi and the kids! Dad

    Jeff, Chelsi, Hosanna and Hope,

We are and will be continuing to pray for your protection. a reminder of how important
it is to intercede. I praise Him for his covering on your family. Things are things as
you said – we learn to hold things loosely. I also praise Him for His constant provision
in having you surrounded by a community that will help and be there for you. How wonderful
that we have this huge family – no matter where we are.

It was wonderful to have these past few weeks together. May God continue to provide all you need when you need it and meet you where you need to be met.

    Love,
    Mom
